Hello My Sweet Visitor!
Delighted to meet you here. I grew up in Hungary where I began drawing and painting as a child. I have been at it on-again-off-again my whole life, with some significant detours. I studied for a decade at the School of the Worcester Art Museum with Sally Bishop and Tom Lewis, everything from watercolor, mixed media, lithography, etching, and oil painting. In 2008, I earned a doctorate from Boston University in Language, Literacy, and Cultural Studies and have been an academic since. I am an associate professor in English at Missouri State University, where I work with multilingual families and their teachers.
The artworks on this site come from my recent digital paintings and photographs. I experiment with digital brushwork to express feelings of warmth and connectedness. I picture serene domesticity in family life living among artists, dancers, actors, and writers in the picturesque surroundings of the Ozarks. I never knew I would connect deeply with a place so saliently foreign to me, but my life here in Springfield, Missouri, has been enriched beyond my imagination, and for this I am grateful. This is my tribute to the spirit of this place, the beauty of the arts community against the backdrop of the painterly hills, woods, and lakes.
My goal is to feature guest artists on this site, masters whom I am fortunate to know, up-and-coming artists with whom I connect, and those friends who live their art but don't (yet) identify as artists.
I will also offer some fundraisers for organizations in arts education, who deserve and need our support. This town impresses with its myriad of opportunities in the arts. It's simply amazing!
No worries. My gallery has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products. Shop on with ease. Get gifts for everyone! Bring your friends!
